About Us

The Lothlorien farm property, 100 acres in the rolling hills of Caledon in the town of Cheltenham, was purchased in 1975 by Sue Grange (nee Campbell and MacNamara). The farm was built and horses began to move in, in the fall of that year. The farm was private, with Sue being the sole rider. It was the home of the "Cheltenham Gold Cup Horse Show" from 1977 to 1989. This horse show drew riders from all over North America - the big attraction being the World Cup Qualifier.

Over the years, there have been three professionals who have rented one of the barns at Lothlorien to run a boarding barn - Mac Cone, Torchy Millar, and Beth Underhill. However, throughout the entire time, Sue Grange continued to manage her barn as a private barn, and a separate entity altogether. It was decided, after Beth's departure to return Lothlorien to a completely private facility.

Today, Lothlorien is operated by both Sue and her husband John. The farm is comprised of 500 acres, a large amount of which is farmed and planted with various crops, and the remainder being dedicated to the horses. It has several paddocks and run-in sheds, riding trails, a walker, treadmill, hydrotherapy machine, track, two indoor arenas, a sand ring and a grass grand prix ring with several natural obstacles. There are a total of 46 horses at the farm at the present time, consisting of broodmares, stallions, young horses as well as the horses that are currently showing throughout North America with Yann Candele.  In addition to this, there are three Lothlorien horses with Millar Brooke Farm who are currently competing with Ian Millar.

In November of 2003, Sue purchased an additional farm in Wellington, Florida - known as "Lothlorien South". This will provide a place to winter the show horses, while showing at the Palm Beach horse shows. Lothlorien South consists of 10 acres, a 16-stall barn, treadmill, paddocks, a large sand ring and a grand prix ring with several natural obstacles. The farm is a ten-minute ride on horseback to the Stadium Jumping horse show grounds in Wellington.

Lothlorien is considered to be one of the top private hunter/jumper barns in Canada.

Sue teamed up with her mother, Mrs. Campbell and purchased three Standardbred mares, "Belovedangel",  "Please Me Please" and "KiKiKatie".

All three mares have 2007 foals by "Rocknroll Hanover" at their side.

"Rocknroll Hanover" is partially owned by Mrs. Campbell's "Lothlorien Equestrian Centre".  In 2005 "Rocknroll Hanover" won the 3 year old Pacer of the Year as well as being named the Horse of the Year in the United States.
